Glenn Beck love him or hate him, at least he uses facts

It is no secret that i am obviously mostly a conservative.  Glenn Beck recently released another book Arguing With Idiots.  Now i generally like Glenn with his mostly non-partisan cricism.  I purchased his last book as well and rather enjoyed it.  First of all, i recommend it.  Here is where you can get it

Political punditry is at an all time high.  The division between left and right in recent years especially during the Bush administration has created a market.  I think those 8 years were bar non the most divisive in American history.

The major difference i have noticed between most conservative pundits and liberal pundits is the use of facts.  Granted there are conservatives who just spout off crap (Michelle Malkin seems to lack them mostly) but the left is disproportionatly better at espousing opinions that are backed up by nothing but their disdain for anything conservative.

Glenn Beck, Anne Coulter and Bill O’Reilly seem to keep their opinions grounded in logic and in the factual realm.  Keith Olberman and Rachel “Madcow” Maddow seem to just mock conservatives and spread hate.  I share some more liberal view points especially on social issues, but i can not stand to watch either of them.

Personally i believe that all pundits contribute to politics.  However they also contribute to the devisiveness of America.  Rarely do i hear Glenn Beck or Mr. O’Reilly personally slander anyone, let alone any of their pundit-opponents.  However you cannot listen to one hour of Madcow or Olberman without them denouncing Beck and O’Reilly as hate mongerers and rascists.

Like a bumpersticker i once saw said: “Confuse a liberal, use facts!”

A letter to the editor:

I wrote a letter to the editor of the Helena IR today.  It was a bit over the 200 word limit, so i i’ll post it here too:

I would like to point out the detrimental actions of our current Senators, Max Baucus and Jon Tester with respect to their confirmation votes of Cass Sunstein.

Cass Sunstein was approved with a 63 favorable votes as the head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. One of the most important aspects of the office is: “The implementation of government-wide policies and standards with respect to Federal regulations and guidance documents; The quality, utility, and analytic rigor of information used to support public policy”

What does this mean? It means he is in charge of the department that establishes the facts to set policy, and how to implement said policy.

A thorough 15 second search on google.com of “Cass Sunstein Animals Sue” will reveal an article he wrote in support of animal rights. Now animal rights we can all agree is a good thing. However the reasonable human knows that things are only good in moderation.

Cass Sunstein endorses and encourages the adoption of the Animal Welfare Act. One of the many topics covered is the mandate for “exercise of dogs”. Do you want to have the government telling you that you have to walk Scruffy 20 minutes every 4 hours? Is that reasonable? Are they going to mandate that employers give you 30 minute breaks to walk your dog?

In his book “Animal Rights” Mr. Sunstein supports the unconscionable concept that animals themselves can bring suit against human beings. This means that the dear you hit driving back from Great Falls in the canyon, can sue you for injuries.

Most importantly to most Montana voters, is hunting. Hunting has long been part of the heritage of Montana. This act would give game the right to sue hunters. Imagine you’re out hunting antelope on the Eastern plains of Montana, the wind is blowing stiffly and you spot an Antelope. You take the shot, but the wind plays havok on the round and hits the antelope in the leg. You just caused “undue pain and suffering” to that animal, and it now has the right to sue you; according to Mr. Sunstein.

Do you want the office that is in charge of regulations on the federal level, to be ran by a man who advocates Game suing you?

This is a direct threat to your right to hunt game responsibly. It also is a threat to how you handle your cattle, your hens, your horses, and your household pets. Please write Mr. Baucus and Mr. Tester to express your outrage at their approving votes, and remember it come election day.
