Just because its freezing in Baghdad…

…doesnt mean we should freeze the congressional budget.

As most of you may know, in lieu of the spanking the democrats took at the polls in Massachusetts, the democrats are proposing “being fiscally responsible” and freezing the budget for all but the department of defense and homeland security.

After the shock of liberals being smacked wore off, they want to do a total about face.  I view it as superficial, as they will do their best to appear as “moderate” as necessary until the mid term elections.  At which time once they secure their seats, they will continue on their destruction.

I beg you that you see through their deceit.  As all politicians are not entirely truthful, however a few are good.  But a majority are suspect.

Stimulus spending as empirically proven to not work.  The bailouts were a waste of money.  Every single piece of nanny legislation has proven ineffectual.

However there is necessary spending.  Interstate repair and building, port construction and other public works are all necessary.  If you suspend spending on those, it becomes required of the states to pay.  Many states dont have the money to keep up their roads on their own.  California is about to default, and states like Montana are low in population but have millions of miles of roads to maintain.

Or have we forgotten the collapse of the bridge on I-35W in Minneapolis?  It killed 13 people because of disrepair.  Cutting off this funding will only perpetuate these issues.

Suspending spending is a rather knee-jerk reaction.  In the great words of Stan Marsh “Any idiot can quit drinking, it takes discipline to drink responsibly.”

So Congress, Mr. Obama, spend responsibly.  Stop spending ridiculous sums on things that dont work, and fight waste and pork, AS YOU PROMISED.  these things will save the budget.

America loses in the world of Economic Freedom

Every year since the dawn of time (no not really) economists at the Wallstreet Journal, Down Jones, and the Heritage Foundation have distributed the Index of Economic Freedom from 2009.  America lost a total of 2.7% in the way of economic freedom.

You may ask yourself why a decrease of only 2.7% isn’t a big deal, “afterall we are in a recession”.  The index does not measure economies, but the ability of those economies to operate freely.  Many countries moved forward, such as Poland, Switzerland and Bahrain.  These countries also didn’t engage in the folly of increasing government interference in their economies.

Whereas nations such as the US and Great Britain, invested heavily in government spending, which has a loss of economic freedom of 2.7 and 2.5 percent respectively.  Effectually every government that spent “stimulus” money showed absolutely no growth…as a matter of fact, showed negative growth.

See for yourself:  http://www.heritage.org/index/pdf/2010/Index2010_ExecutiveHighlights.pdf

As i have previously mentioned obviously one sided balance sheets don’t work.  The world of fanciful spending by the government does nothing productive, and much largely only counter productivity.  Government money comes from taxpayers.  Essentially the government says they can invest your money better than you can.

Maybe they can invest it better than some, but people with mutual funds for their retirement (suck as 401k’s), TSP accounts, invest that money through learned people.  The private industries have always shown to better know how to invest.

Bottom line, due to the policies that the administrations have imposed as of late, and their extra redistribution of free money to government dollars, America has lost economic stature in the World.  Falling behind such countries as New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland…and even…Canada.

Do we want to be not as good as Canada?  HELL NO!  Vote the bums out!
